Hotels & Lodges in Entebbe
Entebbe is Uganda’s international gateway — a quiet lakeside town on a peninsula extending into Lake Victoria, home to the country’s only international airport and approximately 40 km south of Kampala. For safari travellers, it functions as both the entry point and the natural place to begin or end a Uganda itinerary.
The accommodation portfolio here is different in character from the national park lodges: these are urban and peri-urban hotels and guesthouses suited to a night of recovery after a long-haul flight, a staging point before an early domestic departure, or a final night before flying home.
Nkuringo Safaris’ Entebbe properties range from Papyrus Guesthouse — a Nkuringo Lodges own property, compact and centrally placed — to the Protea Hotel Entebbe at the upmarket end, on the shores of Lake Victoria with full hotel facilities.
All six properties are within convenient reach of Entebbe International Airport. Entebbe itself is walkable and offers a range of genuine half-day activities that make it worth more than a transit stop. Most guests continue from here to gorilla trekking in Bwindi, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale, or a wider Uganda safari.
In Entebbe
Entebbe’s hotels fall into two broad categories: garden guesthouses in the town’s leafy residential suburbs (closer to the airport, quieter, better value) and lakeside hotels on the shores of Lake Victoria (better views, larger facilities, higher price points). All six properties in the Nkuringo portfolio are within 15 minutes of the airport.
Papyrus Guesthouse is a Nkuringo Lodges brand and the agency’s own property in Entebbe, offering mid-range rooms at around $80 per person — the most affordable option in the portfolio. As a Nkuringo Lodges property, guests booking Papyrus through Nkuringo Safaris benefit from flexible coordination between the guesthouse and the Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge in Bwindi, including managed transfers.
Karibu Entebbe and 2 Friends Beach Hotel represent the mid-range tier ($100–150), with lakeside settings and easy access to both the airport and Entebbe’s attractions.
The Boma Hotel is a colonial-era boutique property in tropical gardens, well regarded for its restaurant and atmosphere, at around $150 per person.
Hotel No.5 is a boutique property in the quieter colonial residential section of Entebbe, at around $180 per person — a good choice for travellers who prioritise calm over lake views.
Protea Hotel Entebbe (a Marriott brand) is the highest-specified option in the portfolio at around $200 per person, with Lake Victoria frontage and full hotel amenities.
