    Description

Hotel No.5 is a luxury boutique hotel in the quiet, colonial part of Entebbe, around 15 minutes from Entebbe International Airport. Tranquil and intimate rather than large or corporate, it’s built for travellers who want a calm, upmarket base to relax and refresh before or after a safari into the Ugandan countryside.

Luxurious rooms open directly onto manicured gardens and a swimming pool, and the hotel adds a spa, a gym and a well-regarded restaurant — handy for limbering up (or winding down) around the physical demands of gorilla trekking in the southwest.

Best for: Travellers wanting a luxury, low-key first or last night near the airport; couples after a tranquil boutique stay; families or longer-stay guests who need the self-contained apartments; and anyone bookending a Bwindi mountain gorilla or Queen Elizabeth safari with comfort and a spa.

    Accommodation at Hotel No.5

Hotel No.5 has 10 luxury rooms and 5 self-contained apartments, set around manicured gardens and a swimming pool.

Luxury Rooms (×10) — Spacious garden rooms with large patio doors and private balconies opening onto the gardens and pool, each with an en-suite bathroom.

Apartments (×5) — Larger, self-contained units suited to families or longer stays.

A comfortable lounge and dining area serves local dishes and an international menu, and guests can swim, relax in the gardens, or book a spa treatment.

    Amenities at a glance:

    • En-suite bathrooms
    • Swimming pool
    • Spa
    • Gym
    • International cuisine restaurant
    • Cocktail bar
    • Private deck / veranda
    • Manicured gardens
    • Free Wi-Fi

    Dining at Hotel No.5

The restaurant is one of the hotel’s signatures — carefully planned menus of local and international dishes, paired with an international wine list and served in the lounge and dining area or out by the gardens. A cocktail bar rounds out the evenings.

Sundowners are best taken on Lake Victoria: a boat ride into the lake breeze with a cocktail in hand and an African sunset ahead is the classic way to open or close a Ugandan trip.

    Families & Children

Hotel No.5 works well for families and longer stays. The five self-contained apartments give families more room than a standard double, and the pool and gardens suit younger guests in a quiet, contained setting.

Child policy (confirm current terms with the hotel): children aged 4 and under stay free when sharing with parents; children sharing with an adult are charged a per-child supplement on the room rate, rising to a percentage of the room rate for older children. The exact age bands need confirming — see the note below.

    Activities & Things to Do

Hotel No.5 is a calm base for Entebbe’s best day trips, most of them on or around Lake Victoria.

Ngamba Chimp Island — A Lake Victoria sanctuary for orphaned and rescued chimpanzees, reached by boat from Entebbe — the best primate experience for travellers who won’t reach the western jungle parks.

Mabamba Swamp Birding — A wetland west of Entebbe and one of Uganda’s most reliable places to see the rare shoebill, explored by dugout canoe.

UWEC & Botanical Gardens — The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre and the lakeside botanical gardens are both close by — an easy introduction to Uganda’s wildlife.

Around Town — Modern malls, local markets, restaurants and bars are within walking distance, while the hotel’s own spa, gym and gardens are there for downtime.

Entebbe is a gentle introduction to Uganda’s inland attractions — and an easy add-on to any fully customisable safari.

    How to Get There

By air — Hotel No.5 is around 15 minutes from Entebbe International Airport, Uganda’s main international gateway. (Some Nkuringo listings cite 10 minutes — confirm the transfer time.)

To / from Kampala — Roughly 40 km (about an hour) to the capital.

Onward safari — Most guests connect by road or domestic flight to the western parks (Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, Kibale) the next morning; transfers and flights can be arranged as part of a wider itinerary.

    How to Book Hotel No.5

Nkuringo Safaris partners with Hotel No.5 and can fold it into a wider Uganda safari, usually at better rates than booking direct.

    We can help you:

    • Book Hotel No.5 as the first and/or last night of a tailored Uganda safari
    • Bundle the stay with permits, transfers and onward travel to Bwindi, Kibale or Queen Elizabeth
    • Add Entebbe day trips — Ngamba Island, Mabamba shoebill birding, UWEC — around your flight times

    What Our Travellers Say

Our guide (Darrick) was amazing; he was knowledgeable, very informative, and very flexible too! He also went above and beyond to make sure we experienced the things we were showing interest in. We are truly happy with Nkuringo and recommend it to friends and family.

My son and I spent two weeks experiencing African magic with Nkuringo Safaris, and we will never forget our time there. Truly a priceless experience. I could talk about those experiences for pages — the friendly people, the beautiful Nile River where we did whitewater rafting, the tree lions, the chimpanzees, and the majestic mountain gorillas.

    Steven Susser

In November 2020, we travelled to Uganda as a couple in a 4×4 Safari Jeep. Considering the difficult time we are all in, we were especially happy about the level of service we experienced. You can travel to Uganda with no problem. During our travel, we felt safer than in Europe – everybody cared about our health and happiness.

    Sarah B

Don’t miss out on this unique experience. Our guide, Richard, was excellent. We had an informative and unique walk down the mountain from Kisoro to Lake Mutanda. We walked through villages and saw families actively working their farms. The walk is easy. The dugout canoe was very comfortable, with padded seats. We highly recommend the adventure.

    Kwa Alaska

My husband and I had a week’s vacation, which is not a lot given everything we wanted to do/see. Nkuringo organized our trip to make the most of this week. The trip was flawlessly organized. Time management was perfect. They were flexible and accommodating, all our needs were met, and we felt listened to; it was a truly customized experience.

    Victoria V

The most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen. The welcome from a gorgeous team was lovely… hot water bottles in the bed and a fire lit in our room each night made it such a special place.

    David Q, UK

Our driver and guide (Frederic) made our stay very pleasant. He had a lot to share and was open to our ideas. We could rely on him at any time.

Travelling Uganda as a couple… our guide knew so much about animals, plants and the country’s history. He was funny and friendly and looked after us incredibly well.

    Tom R, USA

We are a travel company ourselves and this company over-delivered for us… The whole thing ran like clockwork, even while making sure everyone was happy with the amount of time spent in each place.
